India is to set up three centers of excellence for Artificial Intelligence in top educational institutions. The Government also plans to partner with leading industry players to conduct interdisciplinary research and develop cutting-edge applications and scalable problem solutions in the areas of agriculture, health, and sustainable cities. Artificial intelligence leverages computers and machines to mimic the problem-solving and decision-making capabilities of the human mind. The artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) is the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and the internet of things (IoT) infrastructure.

The union budget also included the mention of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 4.0. The Government aims to skill lakhs of youth within the next three years. The finance minister also mentioned new-age courses like coding, AI, robotics, mechatronics, IOT, 3D printing, and drones which will find a place under this mass skilling yojana. Robotics and industrial automation use computers, control systems, and information technology to handle industrial processes and machinery, replacing manual labor and improving efficiency, speed, quality, and performance.

With a focus on realizing new opportunities, business models, and employment potential from the 5G technology, the Government has declared the construction of 100 5G labs. The labs will focus on developing applications for use in areas such as smart classrooms, precision farming, intelligent transport systems, and healthcare. 5G is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network designed to connect virtually everyone, including machines, objects, and devices.
